Carotid Artery Screening

Preventative Vascular Assessment

Carotid Doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive test that uses sound waves to measure the flow of blood through the large carotid arteries that supply blood to the brain. These arteries can become narrowed due to arteriosclerosis or other causes, and this can lead to transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke) or cerebral vascular accident (stroke).

The carotid doppler test can help doctors determine stroke risk and the need for preventive measures. A stroke occurs when a blood vessel that carries oxygen and nutrients to the brain is either blocked by a clot or bursts, causing brain tissue to die.

NCV Test

Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) is a test to see how fast electrical signals move through a nerve. This test is used to diagnose nerve damage or destruction.

Occasionally, the test may be used to evaluate diseases of nerve or muscle, including carpal tunnel syndrome, peripheral neuropathy, and other complex neuromuscular conditions.

EEG Monitoring

Ambulatory electroencephalography (AEEG) monitoring is a relatively recent technology that allows prolonged electroencephalographic (EEG) recording in the home setting.

This advanced monitoring capability is essential for diagnosing seizures and epilepsy, providing a more comprehensive data set than traditional short-term clinical tests.
